2. WebFont Uses

Question Can I use a font on my website?
Answer

Yes; under the Webfont License, a font may be converted to a webfont and embedded in your website's code using @font-face technology.

Webfont use is not permitted in the Desktop, E-Pub, or App Font Licenses.

Question On how many websites may I use a licensed Font?
Answer

This is dependent on the number of pageviews you specify at checkout when you purchase a Webfont license. You may embed the font in the code of a number of websites, as long the specific number of pageviews you purchased is not exceeded.

Question If I use a webfont on my website, how many pageviews are allowed?
Answer

This depends on the number of pageviews you select at checkout when you purchase a Webfont License.

Question What if I need more pageviews?
Answer

If you need more pageviews in a font's webfont license, please purchase another license with an appropriate number of pageviews that will cover your intended use.

Question When I purchase a Webfont License, do I receive separate font files than I would if I bought a Desktop License?
Answer

No matter which font license you purchase, you will receive the same set of files; product files are not differentiated by license at this time. The license you purchase determines the rights you are allowed. For example, if a font comes with OTF, TTF, and webfont files, and you purchase a Webfont license, you are only allowed to use the font in ways that are permitted under the Webfont License. If you purchase a Desktop License for that font, you may only use the font in ways permitted under the Desktop License, even though the font also comes with webfonts.

Question Can I use a font in a Web in which the end users use the font to design their own content?
Answer

NO, this is not permitted in any of our Font Licenses. Any use that allows anyone other than the Licensee (such as an end user) to customize a digital or physical end product using the Licensed Asset is prohibited, whether for Commercial use or Non-commercial use. This includes, but is not limited to, “print on demand”, “made to order”, or “download on demand” applications.

3. E-Pub Font Uses

Question Can I use a licensed font in an eBook?
Answer

Yes, under the E-Pub License, you may use a font in an eBook. The number of eBooks you can create depends on the number of e-books titles you select at checkout. Embedding the font in your Ebook(s) is only permitted for use in electronic publications, provided that the font is not extractable.

Embedding a font in an eBook is not permitted in the Desktop, Webfont, or App Font Licenses.

Question What is a Title?
Answer

A “title” means one (1) standalone e-publication; each book in a series and each issue of an e-publication (such as a magazine publication) is a single title.

Question Can I use a font in an ebook and a physical book under the E-Pub license?
Answer

No; An E-Pub license allows you to use the font only in an E-book, E-card, or E-magazine. In order to use a font to create a physical book, you will need a desktop license for the font.

Question In what formats can an e-publication be available?
Answer

Fonts purchased under the E-Pub License may be used in E-books, E-cards, or E-magazines. These might be offered in PDF, EPUB, Kindle, Digital Editions, or other e-reader format used in a web browser. Keep in mind that the font may not be used in such a way that allows the End User (Reader) of your e-publication to extract or reverse-engineer the font.

Question How many copies of my eBook(s) can I sell?
Answer

The E-Pub License permits use of the font in only the number of titles selected at checkout. However, there is no quantity limit on the sales or distribution of those electronic publications.

4. App Font Uses

Question Can I use a font in a mobile app's user interface?
Answer

Under the App license, you may use a font as part of an app or game's user interface. You may not allow the font to be used by the End User to create or customize an End Product.

Question In how many apps may I use the font under the same App License?
Answer

Under the App License, you may create 1 title. A “title” is one (1) standalone application and excludes all other versions aside from a replacement version that contains only bug fixes. A sequel, prequel, or other new version of the app would be considered a different title and would require you to purchase another license.

Question Can I use the font in a sequel of my game app using the same App License?
Answer

No; this would be considered a different title and would require a separate license. Under the App License, you may create 1 title.

Question Can I make the same app compatible on different platforms (e.g. iOS, MacOS, Windows, Android, etc) under the same App License?
Answer

Yes; this would be considered the same title, and you could use the same App License for all versions of the app.

Question Can I use a font in an app in which the end users use the font to design their own content?
