Type Your Words With Confidence
The right font makes a difference, and so does its license. Select one or more of our simple options and go back to designing with the freedom, speed, and coverage you need.
1. Desktop Font Uses
Yes! Logos and static brand graphics are fully permitted under the Desktop License.
Yes, you may register a trademark for a logo that uses a Kaligra font. However, the trademark only applies to your unique logo design (its arrangement, style, and colors), not to the font itself. The font’s design remains the property of Kaligra.
A standard desktop license allows you to create static graphics, but it does not include rights to use the font as a primary logo, in a trademark, or as part of a global brand identity. If you’d like to use a Kaligra font in your main logo, trademark, or across brand and marketing materials, a Logo/Brand License is required.
For most small businesses, our desktop license is enough to create a logo.
If you’re planning to build a large-scale or global brand identity with the font, please reach out—we offer a separate logo/brand license for that.
⚠️ Important: Simply typing a name in a standard Kaligra font without distinctive design elements is unlikely to qualify as trademarkable. You’ll need to add sufficient creative flair for registry success
Yes, this is permitted with a Desktop License, provided that the actual font files are not redistributed in any way.
Yes, with a Desktop License, this is permitted. However, keep in mind that you may not embed the font on a website (to do this, please purchase a Webfont License.) You may, however, use the font to create static website graphics.
Yes, with a Desktop License, this is permitted. There are no quantity limitations on End Product sales.
Yes, with a Desktop License, you may use the font in unlimited brands / End Products.
No, unless the client purchases their own matching license. Any agents of the licensee must destroy fonts after completing work.
2. WebFont Uses
Yes; under the Webfont License, a font may be converted to a webfont and embedded in your website's code using @font-face technology.
Webfont use is not permitted in the Desktop, E-Pub, or App Font Licenses.
This is dependent on the number of pageviews you specify at checkout when you purchase a Webfont license. You may embed the font in the code of a number of websites, as long the specific number of pageviews you purchased is not exceeded.
Since we offers only one tier for web use—10K pageviews/month, you would need to purchase two 10K Webfont Licenses to legally cover your 20,000 monthly pageviews (total = 20K).
- ✅ Within 10K views/month per license: you're covered.
- ❌ Exceeding that (even once in a month) means you're out of compliance and must secure additional licenses before continuing use.
- 💡 Tip: Always choose the tier that meets or exceeds your current monthly average—not just peaks—so usage remains compliant throughout the billing period.
No matter which font license you purchase, you will receive the same set of files; product files are not differentiated by license at this time. The license you purchase determines the rights you are allowed. For example, if a font comes with OTF, TTF, and webfont files, and you purchase a Webfont license, you are only allowed to use the font in ways that are permitted under the Webfont License. If you purchase a Desktop License for that font, you may only use the font in ways permitted under the Desktop License, even though the font also comes with webfonts.
NO, this is not permitted in any of our Font Licenses. Any use that allows anyone other than the Licensee (such as an end user) to customize a digital or physical end product using the Licensed Asset is prohibited, whether for Commercial use or Non-commercial use. This includes, but is not limited to, “print on demand”, “made to order”, or “download on demand” applications.
3. E-Pub Font Uses
Yes, under the E-Pub License, you may use a font in an eBook. The number of eBooks you can create depends on the number of e-books titles you select at checkout. Embedding the font in your Ebook(s) is only permitted for use in electronic publications, provided that the font is not extractable.
Embedding a font in an eBook is not permitted in the Desktop, Webfont, or App Font Licenses.
A “title” means one (1) standalone e-publication; each book in a series and each issue of an e-publication (such as a magazine publication) is a single title.
No; An E-Pub license allows you to use the font only in an E-book, E-card, or E-magazine. In order to use a font to create a physical book, you will need a desktop license for the font.
Fonts purchased under the E-Pub License may be used in E-books, E-cards, or E-magazines. These might be offered in PDF, EPUB, Kindle, Digital Editions, or other e-reader format used in a web browser. Keep in mind that the font may not be used in such a way that allows the End User (Reader) of your e-publication to extract or reverse-engineer the font.
The E-Pub License permits use of the font in only the number of titles selected at checkout. However, there is no quantity limit on the sales or distribution of those electronic publications.
4. App Font Uses
Under the App license, you may use a font as part of an app or game's user interface. You may not allow the font to be used by the End User to create or customize an End Product.
Under the App License, you may create 1 title. A “title” is one (1) standalone application and excludes all other versions aside from a replacement version that contains only bug fixes. A sequel, prequel, or other new version of the app would be considered a different title and would require you to purchase another license.
No; this would be considered a different title and would require a separate license. Under the App License, you may create 1 title.
Yes; this would be considered the same title, and you could use the same App License for all versions of the app.
